Rings are exchanged in front of both families, the elders give their blessing, and two households that have been negotiating politely for months formally become one guest list. Dinner follows, quite sensibly.

It is the first evening everyone is in the same room, so it runs long and it runs warm. Expect a great many introductions you will not remember, and photographs you will.
